My desktop optical mouse freezes sometimes and has become a little jumpy off-late ....suggestions?

Sometimes it closes one of my windows when i didn't do it and sometimes links get clicked which i did not...usually when i re-boot everything is fine again and than it might start again after a couple of hours or may not..
