Senior executive career question?

I am currently performing duties at an operational level. My current profile relates to handling finance function task such as preparation of set of accounts, audit coordination and regulatory reporting to local regulators. I have a master degree in management and Chartered accountant with 7 years of experience in finance industry. Would you comment on whether Diploma offered by Institute of Directors in company direction will be suitable at this stage. I do not participate in making any strategic or tactical decisions within the organisation at this point but I aspire to become a director in the near future.
