My wireless internet won't connect?

I have tried re-booting my laptop, taking the battery out etc. I then tried disconnecting and reconnecting again and now it wont let me connect... I went on troubleshoot problems and it said its something to do with a wireless adapter? what does that mean? Do i need to go to the store and get a new laptop or can i get it mended? Help me please.
