Why would my newest hard-drive disappear from my computer, it comes back when I restart, for awhile.?

Added a larger hard-drive to my computer, but every time my computer goes idle, it's gone & have to restart to get it back. Even if I go from a cold start, it's not there until I re-boot. Anyone have this experience?
