Do you think musical talent today is based on appearance?

The whole entertainment industry has always been very focused on looks and it's even more so today. A good looking boy band or girl band with average voices that can be autotuned will be signed up but a band of average looking people or ugly people with amazing voiced won't be. The acting industry is the same. If you don't look right then you don't stand a chance of getting leading roles or number one hits. I can think of exceptions like Susan Boyle but the contrast between her looks and her voice are what made her famous. Adele is overweight but has an amazing talent and a beautiful face. I expect her to be told to lose weight eventually though. The fact is, we are a looks obsessed society and we buy into image just as much as the voice or the acting talent. Millions of pounds are made off the back of it.
