Scope for my rifle i need help deciding?

i have a Remington target tactical in .308 win i am trying to decide between the nightforce 5.5-22 and the 8-32 NXS but can not decide i will be using this gun for target/hunting purposes (groundhog) from anywhere between 100 and 500 yards .. but theres days i wanna go out with the guys and try banging steel targets from 1000 what scope is for me. Something else to consider is alot of the critters i shoot are relitivly small therefor i beleve the higher maginification would help i currently use a 6-18 scope on my other gun but its blurry past 15 . so if i get a 8-32 it will probably stay clear to around 29-30 but anyways tell me what you think and yes those are the only two i consider so dont suggest a scmidt and bender or leuopold thanks
