What the hells wrong with my BBM?

OK, it's really starting to bug me now, like an hour ago it was working fine but often it takes a few minutes to send messages, ok I can live with that, but then it didn't send at all so I took the battery out and re-booted my recent updates disappeared completely, restarted again, it's gone, upgraded BB software, BBM totally destroyed all contacts pictures blank? I'm on contract so that sure as **** shouldn't be happening, even upgraded to the newest BBM version and still blank pictures except one person, how in the **** do I fix it? I don't understand why this has happened?
